Extraordinary Situation Proclaimed in Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Nevada and Orange Counties

On October 9, 2017 Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. proclaimed a state of emergency in Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Nevada and Orange counties due to the effects of fires including the Cherokee, LaPorte, Sulphur, Potter, Cascade, Lobo and Canyon fires which have destroyed structures, damaged infrastructure and threaten homes, necessitating the evacuation of residents. Consequently, Commissioner of Business Oversight Jan Lynn Owen has determined that an extraordinary situation exists in Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Nevada and Orange counties and has issued a proclamation authorizing state-chartered banks to close any or all of their offices in affected areas until the Commissioner determines the extraordinary condition has ended.
