Trinity and Butte Counties Emergency Bank Closures – DBO Proclamation

Extraordinary Situation Proclaimed in Trinity and Butte Counties

On August 31 and on September 1, 2017, Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. proclaimed states of emergency in the Counties of Trinity and Butte due to the effects of the Helena and Ponderosa fires, which have burned thousands of acres, have destroyed multiple homes and threaten other homes and structures, and caused the evacuation of residents. Consequently, Commissioner of Business Oversight Jan Lynn Owen has determined that an extraordinary situation exists in Trinity County and Butte County and has issued a proclamation authorizing state-chartered banks to close any or all of their offices in affected areas until the Commissioner determines the extraordinary condition has ended.
