Department of Financial Institutions Participates in Professional BusinessWomen of California Conference at Sacramento Convention Center

San Francisco – The California Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) Professional BusinessWomen of California Conference (PBWC) on November 3, 2004.

The Department’s recruitment staff provided information on the Financial Institution Examiner classification; applications are accepted on a continuous basis. For information on careers at DFI, please visit the Web site at www.dfi.ca.gov. The Department’s consumer education materials were also provided to the 3,000 in attendance.

Sunne Wright McPeak, Secretary of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency that includes departments such as Caltrans, the CHP, DMV, and the Department of Financial Institutions, spoke on the important role of women in politics.

The event, known for 10 years as “A Woman’s Day,” will unveil a new theme this year: “Take Charge! Unleashing Your Potential,” meant to encourage women to take control of their lives and careers.

DFI supervises over 650 financial institutions, including 204 commercial and industrial banks and 221 credit unions. The Department is responsible for administering state laws regulating state-licensed financial institutions: banks, credit unions, industrial banks, savings associations, trust companies, offices of foreign banks, issuers of travelers checks and payment instruments (money orders), and transmitters of money abroad. The Department reports to Sunne Wright McPeak, Secretary of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
